Chocolate chip cookie recipe!

Hello my lovelies!

This New Year's I went to my uni and spent it with my best friends. I had a lovely time. As a gift I thought I would bake some cookies and bring them for everyone! They seemed to go down a treat so I thought I would share the recipe with you lovely bunch!

Ingredients
150g salted butter
80g light brown sugar
80g granulated sugar
2tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
225g plain flour
1/2tsp of bicarbonate of soda
1/4tsp of salt
200g chocolate chips

Pre-heat your oven to 190C/170C fan/gas mark 5.

Step 1: Mix together your light brown sugar, granulated sugar and butter. Recipes always say to 'cream' your ingredients but that never seems to work for me. So don't worry if your mixture looks like the second picture! They turned out well in the end.

Step 2: Add the beaten egg and vanilla extract to your mixture. This should act as a glue and start to make the mixture stick together.

Step 3: Add the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt all in at once. Sieve the flour if it is lumpy to make sure your mixture is smooth when it comes round to baking it!

Step 4: Mix all of the contents of the ball together until it all comes into a dough. If the mixture isn't sticking together then you can keep adding tablespoons of water until it does stick!

Step 5: Add in your chocolate chips! I went for a mixture of milk and dark chocolate to give a variety of flavours. You can also use chocolate chunks if you want to. Try to spread the chocolate evenly throughout the mixture so the cookies have a fair amount in each.

Step 6: The sizing of these is up to you. I ripped off chunks and made them circle. I prefer when they are all different sizes because they look more rustic. If you want smaller cookies then use a teaspoon to measure your portion sizes! Make sure your baking tray is lined with greaseproof paper too, this will make it easier to take them off once they are cooked.

Step 7: After around 10-15 minutes take them out of the oven. You want them to be golen brown but soft in the middle. *Tip - if they are still a bit gooey when you take them out of the oven, remember that they will harden as they cool down*

Step 8: Enjoy your yummy cookies! I was really happy with how these turned out and they tasted delicious too. Please tweet me a picture to @jesstasticsblog if you have a go at making these. I would love to see your finished results!
