Mental Health Awareness...

Hello my lovelies!

I want to talk today about a very sensitive topic...Mental Health. This is a subject close to my heart because I study Psychology and have helped people with a Mental Health issue. The reason I am writing about this is because this week it is Mental Health Awareness Week at my university. It kicked off yesterday on Blue Monday, the day that is supposed to be the most depressing in the year. They have done a great job so far giving out balloons with the hashtag #SmashTheStigma on, the hashtag we are trying to get trending to raise awareness. They also gave out Project Grin cards - the concept of this is that you smile at a stranger, if they smile back at you then you give them that card and spread the love! As well as this they have given out pledge cards, these are cards that you write on saying how you will help your own mental health or someone elses.
As I have previously mentioned before, I am the president of the Psychology Society. To support and raise awareness of Mental Health week we composed, alongside the Film Festival society, a video that outlines some health issues. Members from the society read out statistics, influential speakers were also added and the Disabled Officer at RHUL also spoke about his own experiences. It took a long time to compose but I definitely feel that the end product was worth it. If you have the time please check it out and share the link, it would be so great to get the message spread as wide as we can. The video can be found here

Fun events will be continuing throughout the week, we want awareness to be shown every day. Mental Health should not be a taboo subject, we should be honest and open about it. Please help to #SmashTheStigma and make sure others know about it as well. I would love to hear if you did anything to raise awareness for MH week or how you overcome your own personal Blue Monday?

Thank you and speak soon! xx
